Article Title: Team Mullis Thrash Pays Off--Williams Claims Top D Article Date: 2/13/2007 Article: Immokalee, FL: Troy Williams, Jr. and the entire staff at Mullis Race Cars put in a long week leading up to the IHRA season-opening Summit Pro-Am event at Immokalee Regional Raceway last weekend. In addition to normal day-today shop activities, the Mullis Race Cars staff burned the midnight oil, working after hours to assemble both Troy Williams, Jr.s new Quick Rod machine, and the shop car with which Williams will compete in the Top Dragster category. Each of these competition vehicles are new Mullis Swing-Arm 4-link Dragsters.
Williams and the Mullis crew didnt tighten the last bolts until early Friday morning, leaving no time for testing the new machines before setting out for the event. By the end of the weekend, however, Williams found an old familiar parking spot for his new ride: the winners circle. Following six rounds of fierce competition in the Top Dragster category, Williams was the beneficiary of a red-light start from Mike Ferraro in the final round of competition to earn his first IHRA Iron Man of the 2007 campaign.
I cant think of a better way to kick off the season and my career with Mullis Race Cars, said an elated Williams. We all put in so many hours over the last couple weeks to make this happen. I want to thank Charlie Weser and Tom Edmunds, the co-owners of Mullis Race Cars/Outlaw Motorsports for their faith in me, and all their help. And I want to thank Brian Forrester, Joe Chance, and each of the Mullis Race Cars and Edmunds Metal Works employees for all their help getting things together. We had a handful of new car bugs to work out Friday and Saturday, but all things considered it was a really smooth debut and obviously a great end result!
The Mullis Race Cars Shop Top Dragster machine is equipped with a P.A.R. Racing Engines 582 cubic inch all-aluminum conventional head motor. The engine includes components from Milodon, Mr. Gasket, Holley Performance, and Aerospace Components, and is topped by a Holley gasoline carburetor by Advanced Product Design which burns 114 Octane Rockett Brand Racing Fuel. That power is put to the ground by a set of Mickey Thompson racing slicks. The winning car also features Auto Meter gauges, as well as K&R Performance Engineerings Pro-Cube delay box and switch panel, and a host of components available thru Jegs Mail Order.
