Article Title: Richardson & Combs Crowned as BTE/Citgo Champions Article Date: 11/18/2005 Article: APD Customers Scotty Richardson (S/Pro) and Phil Combs (Sportsman) clinched their BTE/Citgo Series World Championships on Sunday as the nationwide series concluded in Bakersfield, CA. Each competitor enjoyed a comfortable points lead for the majority of the season, and Richardson actually wrapped up his title a week prior at the Georgia Bracket Nationals in Valdosta, GA. Combs, the 2004 BTE/Citgo World Champion, went into the final weekend as a huge favorite, although a couple competitors could have run the table and knock him off at Bakersfield.
Richardson came out atop a widely talented field including his brother (and fellow APD customer) Edmond Richardson, J.J. Endicott, and defending champion Josh Baker. For his efforts, he will receive a complete, turn-key Racetech 4-link dragster with a 540 cubic inch Nesbitt Performance Racing Engine. Scotty depends on APD alcohol carburetors, fuel systems, and engines within his successful racing operation.
Combs also bested a whos who of sportsman competitors to claim back-to-back series championships, including Clayton Clark (who finished 2nd to Combs for the second consecutive season), Eric Paul, Luke Bogacki, and Chris Vels. As the champion, Combs takes home a new Nesbitt Performance Engines 540 cubic inch bullet. Phil Combs used an APD alcohol carburetor from the midseason point on to help claim his title.
